The fall semester is approaching quickly! Is your institution up to the task of accommodating community members who are Deaf or hard of hearing?

We joined with with higher-ed experts Jo Hilton of Alamo Colleges and Liz Ramos of University of Florida for a dynamic discussion about accessibility. They’ll offer tips and strategies for proactively incorporating accommodations like captioning, transcription and ASL-interpretation into campus life. Attendees will learn how employing accessibility solutions can both help their colleges and universities cultivate more equitable learning environments, while also supporting new and evolving accessibility guidelines.

Join us to explore:

  • Effective strategies for identifying community members who need accommodations without relying solely on self-reporting
  • Use cases for innovative solutions like live and post-production captioning in higher education settings
  • Proactive accessibility approaches that help learning institutions more effectively support changing accessibility standards, including recent updates to Title II of the ADA

Jo Hilton Interpreting Services Manager | Alamo Colleges

I am Jo Hilton, Interpreter Services Manager for the Alamo Colleges in San Antonio, TX.  I have been in this position since 2000 and have seen a great many changes over the past 20 years.  Access has been at the forefront of my career with scheduling sign language interpreters at the five Alamo Colleges as well as captioning for those students who have hearing loss, but don’t use ASL. In my non-work time, I am a photographer and love traveling with my husband. We have 3 dogs and as transplanted Chicagoans, we love living in Texas.
