How are subtitles, closed captions, and Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SDH) different from each other?

Subtitles are designed for hearing users, as they only cover spoken text and do not include sound effects or other audio elements. SDH, on the other hand, are designed for those who are deaf or hard of hearing by including additional information, such as speaker tags, sound effects and other elements outside of the speech itself. Closed captions are required by law on all public broadcasts, as per FCC regulations, and are typically formatted as white text on a black background that can be positioned anywhere on the screen. What other opportunities are available for transcribers?

Transcribers who consistently produce high-quality work and achieve high scores have the chance to become Reviewers. Reviewers are responsible for proofreading and, if necessary, editing transcribers' work.

When and how will I be paid?

You can be paid in two ways: payment per audio minute or payment per word. The payment methods differ from one another based on job type. Payment is currently made via PayPal and is transferred every second Monday, based on all the audio files you completed in the prior weeks. Please make sure you register for Verbit with your PayPal account email and that your PayPal is active before requesting payment.
