The annual Prime Time Online media conference kicks off this week. Verbit’s media team will be participating in the virtual mixing and mingling and sponsoring the keynote presentation on February 2nd. The event engages the Canadian and US media production markets for a multi-day event of keynote sessions, buyers briefings and networking events.

Verbit will be showcasing its media offering to the conference attendees by sponsoring the event’s keynote session, ‘In Conversation With’, featuring DreamWorks Animation’s Chief Creative Officer, TV, Peter Gal. Gal will discuss the rapid expansion and great success of DreamWorks’ television division under his watch, as well as the increasing demand for animation content since the beginning of the global pandemic.

As one of the only sectors of production that hasn’t been forced to shut down, the animation boom is enjoying an even bigger boom across both kids and adult programming. Gal will share his insights and expertise on the state of the animation industry, and what the future holds for DreamWorks’ television group. The session will be moderated by Nico Franks, Editor, C21Kids.

Additional sessions will help to provide insights on how to navigate media production during COVID-19 and after it. For example, one session will deep dive into this topic, “Lessons from the Frontline … of Production.” This session will explore how COVID-19 has presented many challenges for Canadian producers. The discussion will feature some of Canada’s leading line producers and their perspectives, exploring the lessons “from the frontline” of production with new best practices and the development of near daily innovations.

The Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, will also give a virtual keynote interview conducted by the CMPA’s Reynolds Mastin and the AQPM’s Hélène Messier. They’ll explore how the Canadian media industry has faced major upheaval this year, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is also facing significant shifts as updated Broadcasting Act legislation makes its way through Parliament.

The event will feature Buyers Briefings for media pitches with the likes of Brad Holcman of A+E Networks, Zach Feldberg of CBC, Jeff Cooke of Starz, Gave Lindo of TikTok, Brad Danks of OUTtv, Chris Bell of Entertainment One and more.

Verbit is helping media producers and professionals with the media captioning and transcription efforts. Verbit’s leadership will connect with attendees to showcase how they can make these processes less manual. Transcription and captioning efforts are both natural to the media production process, but also are necessary to meet FCC guidelines and reach wider audiences with accessibility needs. Verbit will showcase how it’s tools are customized to meet the specific captioning and transcription needs of the media sector, as well as help with the translation of content with its new Audio Visual Translation solution.
