Verbit’s team is excited to spend the month of July traveling to a few important events to mingle with leaders in the accessibility space and the industries we serve. You can bookmark our Events Page to stay updated on events our team members are attending, exhibiting or speaking at.

Here are the events you can connect with us at this month. You’ll likely find our team on the ground sporting a Verbit polo shirt, but we’d be happy to arrange a time to meet ahead of time. You can fill in this form if you’ll be at any of these July conferences.

Disability:IN Conference in Orlando, FL | July 11-13

You can find Verbit’s Global Head of Disability & Inclusion, Scott Ready, at the highly anticipated Disability:IN conference. With representatives from close to 50 countries and more than 4,000 attendees, this conference is a must for anyone involved in the accessibility space.

Major corporations, including Microsoft, NBC and Marriot will be speaking on accessibility-related topics. Ready said this event not only attracts an attendee list that’s passionate about and committed to inclusion, but that the timely advice on how to create an inclusive culture is something no business leader today should miss out on.

AHEAD Equity & Excellence in Portland, OR | July 17-21

The Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) is hosting its 46th annual conference in Portland, known as Equity and Excellence: Access in Higher Education. Verbit’s education team will be there with a strong presence. You can find Verbit and the team in the exhibit hall at Booth #521. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by.

The conference provides a wonderful opportunity to network and learn the most up-to-date best practices for making education more accessible. We’re excited to showcase the multitude of ways captioning, transcription and audio description can be applied to make learning environments and university events more accessible and inclusive to today’s students and university communities.

The Quirk’s Event for Market Research & Insight Professionals, New York | July 19-20

Quirks is a long-time leader in market research. Their July event will offer exciting opportunities to network and learn from research professional peers. The educational sessions focus on real-world case studies, modern research techniques and best practices.

Verbit will be exhibiting at the event to showcase how our transcription and note taking solutions work to support marketing research efforts. Be sure to find us live so we can show you how these solutions can work to preserve the research being done both efficiently and accurately.

TDI Biennial Conference: Digital Inclusion for All, College Park, MD | July 27-29

We’re excited to announce that two members of Verbit’s team will be speaking on a panel at the Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc. (TDI) Biennial Conference. This year’s theme is especially important to us as it will focus on Digital Inclusion for All. York and the VITAC team have a strong connection to TDI, helping to support TDI’s important efforts to boost access via technology.

Scott Ready and Heather York, VP of Marketing and Government Affairs at VITAC, Verbit’s media arm, will join this session with leaders from NBC, the FCC, the National Association of Broadcasters and the National Captioning Institute on Friday, July 28th from 10-11am EST in Salon F. Their panel will focus on why captioning errors occur and how consumers can more easily report and resolve problems for greater accessibility.

Ready and York will participate in this important discussion alongside Crystal Evans, Counsel, NBCUniversal, Will Schell, Deputy Chief, Disability Rights Office, Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, FCC and Darlene Parker, Director of Partnership Development, National Captioning Institute.

“TDI has been the force behind almost all FCC captioning legislation, going back years,” York said.  “VITAC has supported and worked with the group for years as part of the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technologies, which led the push for the CVAA in 2010, captioning quality guidelines in 2014 and recently, the new CVTA and expansion of the CVAA. It is thanks to this group’s hard work and dedication to accessible technology that we have the access we do today. We’re proud to continue working with them,” she said.

York said conference attendees should be excited to hear from legislators, advocates and caption viewers alike. For those planning to attend, don’t miss this panel, and be sure to come meet our team.

If you can’t make it to any of these events, continue to check our Events Page for additional ones we’ll be attending in August onwards. In the meantime, feel free to check out our new Accessibility Hub to watch videos and gain insights from our experts in accessibility and inclusion.
