As a Software Engineer, you will be joining one of the teams that are building the next generation of Verbit's realtime captioning solution. This team is responsible for a set of cloud-based services and processes which consume customer audio/video media streams and provide realtime caption delivery to a wide variety of customer equipment and platforms. These services must be highly scalable, with high uptime and stability, and the lowest possible latency. This team is fully remote (in U.S. timezones), and works collaboratively with other teams responsible for automated speech recognition (ASR), ordering, sales engineering, research, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • You will take responsibility for the life cycle of features and components from early design, through implementation and testing, and eventually into production.
  • You will work closely with other team members under the agile development methodology.
  • You will coordinate with other software teams and departments as needed (e.g. Product, DevOps, other development teams).
  • You will provide some amount of operational support for production systems as needed (e.g. root cause analysis).
  • Candidates are expected to have good communication skills and the ability to work efficiently both individually and within a team.

If you want to join our journey, you’ll need:

  • At least 5 years of experience with modern C++: C++11 and later, smart pointers, etc.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Linux server
  • 2-3 years of experience with APIs (e.g. REST) and network/cloud applications
  • Experience with cloud providers (e.g. AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with modern development methodologies: source code control (e.g. Git), CI/CD, automated testing/deployment

Advantage:

  • Experience with Docker, serverless, and other deployment technologies
  • Experience with microservices architecture concepts
  • Experience with Python, or willingness to learn it
  • Experience with specific protocols: WebSocket, WebRTC, streaming media (RTSP/RTMP/SRT)
