Verbit joins the likes of Blackboard, CANVAS and Pearson at today’s Online Learning Summit produced by the University of Derby. The event is designed to explore the evolution of online learning and teaching for the future.

Today’s event celebrates a decade of designing and developing online learning for a global student body. Delivering effective online education during the COVID-19 lockdown has been challenging for nearly all universities and institutions, but it has opened up exciting opportunities to reevaluate education professionals’ attention to intentional design and the online student experience.

The event will showcase how online and distance learning have been evolving for decades and are not ‘new’ concepts; however online the rapid shift to remote teaching and learning has likely shaped education for the future. It’s core to Verbit’s mission to ensure these online environments are accessible and engaging to students to ensure they’re academic success. Verbit will be present to showcase how AI-based technologies, including captioning and transcription, can help global universities meet accessibility needs and disability requirements live and increase overall remote student engagement.

“We find ourselves asking if online is blended and is blended online; and if umbrella terms such as ‘flexible learning’, ‘online learning’ or ‘blended learning’ effectively represent a shared understanding of pedagogical approaches, principles and definitions across the sector,” a Derby University executive said.

The event is free to attend, so we encourage you to join us there and check out Verbit’s booth in the exhibit hall. Join Verbit there and meet leaders, practitioners and technologists from the higher education sector to discuss the evolution of online learning and reflect on how the last 18 months has changed our way of thinking.

Attendees will explore effective practice applied in response to the pandemic, discuss how the sector has responded quickly to unimaginable change and how these experiences and insights will and must inform teaching and learning of the future.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Gregory Fowler, President, University of Maryland Global Campus, will challenge attendees’ assumptions on how to serve students by “bringing the right experience to the right learner at the right time, and in the right way.”

Join this exciting day of networking, insights and collaborations. Be sure to login and then say hello to Verbit!
