Take 1, which is well known in the media and entertainment sector for its transcription, access and localization services, will be officially joining the Verbit Company this summer. Take 1 is headquartered in the UK, so the acquisition will help Verbit bolster its growing European presence. This news follows Verbit’s acquisition of UK market research specialist Take Note in March

The rationale behind this acquisition

“The addition of Take 1 advances Verbit as the leading partner to deliver on every media access need including captioning, transcription and audio description,” said Tom Livne, CEO and Founder of Verbit. “I’m excited to provide enhanced service designed to meet our joint customers’ growing post-production needs, while investing more in the UK and European regions.”

Take 1 specializes in start-to-finish transcription and captioning services for video content – from the time the first scene is filmed to the final release on air. The company is also a trusted provider of localization and access services to the media and entertainment industry. It has an established presence in the OTT (Over-The-Top) market in both the US and UK. Nearly half of its customers provide content to streaming platforms, in all languages.

Verbit’s current customers, who turn to us for media, video, event and podcast transcription and captioning, will benefit from Take 1’s well-established industry expertise, particularly in unscripted production workflows, OFCOM and FCC compliance and multi-language audio descriptions. The acquisition will also enhance Verbit’s performance and delivery of UK English language requests.

What leaders at Take 1 are saying

“We’re thrilled to be joining the Verbit family and adding our specialized teams and technologies into the fold,” said Louise Tapia, CEO of Take 1. “With the support of Verbit’s international footprint, proven capabilities and world-leading technologies, we will be able to expand and enhance our services to provide existing and new clients with a unique end-to-end offering, while retaining the Take 1 brand and boutique approach to customer service.”

Dom Bourne, Founder of Take 1, added, “This is such an exciting new chapter in the Take 1 story and a very proud moment for me personally. Our secret to success, since starting the company in 1998, has always been to evolve according to the industry’s needs and, with Verbit behind us, we can look forward to continuing to do this by offering new services like live subtitling, powered by Verbit’s AI solutions. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

This announcement follows Verbit’s recent acquisitions of VITAC, Automatic Sync Technologies (AST), US Captioning and Take Note. Each acquisition has improved Verbit’s ability to meet the unique needs of its customers in the media, education, corporate, government and market research verticals. Verbit’s leadership plans to continue its expansion efforts through new acquisitions, as well as strategic investments in thriving industries that offer opportunities for sustainable growth.
