Do I have to work a minimum number of hours? Do I have to work at specific times during the week?

We have no minimums for when or how much you work. The beauty of our platform is that you can work as much or as little as you like! Some of our transcribers work part-time, while others work consistently throughout the week. Jobs are always available, and you can choose a file to work on at any time of the day. You decide when you start and stop working.

How can I start working as a transcriber?

Fill out the registration form. You will then receive an email containing a link to a test for potential transcribers. Once you complete the test, you will receive an answer via email indicating if you have passed or not. Those who are successful are eligible to begin working.

I passed the test. How do I get started?

You can log in to the platform and claim files to work on by clicking on the file name – we do not assign them to you. Our algorithm will automatically generate a transcript for you to edit, and, upon completion, you simply send for review. Sections that have many transcription errors may be deleted and retyped from scratch. In a case where a transcriber claims a file and does not perform any action on it for two hours consecutively, the file will be automatically unassigned. Transcribers can always return to the jobs list to find the next audio file to work on.

What does a Verbit transcriber do?

Verbit transcribers have access to a constantly updated list of audio and video files that must be edited and reviewed following the ASR transcription. The Verbit platform is online, self-serve and on-demand. Transcribers can log in and choose the files they would like to work on by clicking on the file name; we do not assign the files. Transcribers can always return to the job list to find the next audio file they would like to work on.

What guidelines should I follow?

General guidelines can be found here and are also available in the platform, upon choosing a job. Please note that many jobs have their own specific guidelines to follow as well. Make sure to properly apply all instructions to your work.

What other opportunities are available for transcribers?

Transcribers who consistently produce high-quality work and achieve high scores have the chance to become Reviewers. Reviewers are responsible for proofreading and, if necessary, editing transcribers' work.

When and how will I be paid?

You can be paid in two ways: payment per audio minute or payment per word. The payment methods differ from one another based on job type. Payment is currently made via PayPal and is transferred every second Monday, based on all the audio files you completed in the prior weeks. Please make sure you register for Verbit with your PayPal account email and that your PayPal is active before requesting payment.

Who can I get in touch with if I have more questions?

Feel free to contact us at team@verbit.ai or use the support chat available on the bottom left corner of the platform.
